1 Year Anniversary

I can't believe Jesse and I have been married a year already! Time definitely flies. I'm sure the year went by so fast because I was pregnant for most of it (womp womp) but it was such an incredible year! When I look at the pictures of all of the things we've done, it makes me feel so happy! Our anniversary fell on Memorial Day (awesome), but Jesse was still on the boat, so I spent the day with Fletcher and Nichole. Fletcher and I hung out most of the morning and took pictures together (one of our favorite things to do).

For lunch, we went out for sushi with Nichole, and then headed over to Extraordinary Desserts for a yummy treat. I LOVE this dessert place. I love dessert, period, but this place is just incredible. You walk in, and they have about 10 different options to choose from, and they change daily. They also make the most amazing coffee, so I had some of that too :) They also have beautiful outdoor seating, and Nichole and I sat out there for about three hours just relaxing and chatting.

Fletcher and I went for a long walk when we got home from dessert, and then it was time for bed. He was being really fussy so I kept having to go into his room to comfort him (I give him three minutes of crying, and then I go in). After some gripe water, he finally started to settle down so I laid on my bed next to the monitor just to make sure he was actually going to go to sleep, before I started cleaning up and making myself dinner. I must have dozed off because I woke up to noises coming from the garage. I was trying not to be scared but my heart was racing and I couldn't decide if I wanted to grab Fletcher or scope it out first. I also couldn't remember where I had put my phone. However, when I opened the garage door, SURPRISE!, there was Jesse! I thought it was so cool that he surprised me and came home early, but then I found my phone and realized he had been trying to get in touch with me to come pick him up from North Island. oops!

We spent the rest of the night catching up from all of the things that happened while he was away. It's amazing how much more chatty I am with Jesse, now that I don't go to work and talk to adults all day long. I guess I just have a lot to say after spending all day with a baby :) We also got to open our first anniversary card! Everyone at my bridal shower wrote cards to us to open up each year. I'm the kind of person who likes instant gratification, so I typically open gifts early, peek at my Christmas presents, etc. I was pretty impressed with myself for not opening every single card the second we got back from our wedding. And I'm so glad I didn't! Our first card was from Lindsey, and reading it was such a fun and special surprise!

It was a GREAT anniversary!

Fletcher 7 Weeks

Jesse left Wednesday to do carrier quals off the coast of California, so Fletcher and I were on our own for most of the week. We definitely kept busy! We went shopping at an outlet mall  that was one exit from the Mexico boarder. It was only about 15 miles away from our hourse, but the traffic was terrible! Nichole looked up the news to see what was going on, and apparently there had been a shooting at the boarder crossing that we were heading towards, so they had to shut down the boarder. The signs that we passed were pretty funny. There were big yellow signs with families on them, running with suitcases. There were also signs that said "watch for families crossing the freeway".  The parking lot of the outlet mall backed up to the fence that separates the USA from Mexico, so we got a few pics in front of it. Since Jesse isn't allowed to go to Mexico, it's probably the closest I'll ever get!

Fletcher and I also went to the movies to see X Men. He was SO good the last time we went to the movies (slept the entire time), that I was hoping I would be as lucky this time. Not so much.  He only made it about 45 minutes through. He didn't cry, but was talking and making all kinds of noises so I thought it would be best if we left. Ah well!

I had the opportunity to meet up with an old friend this week too! Nakita and I worked together when I lived in Korea. She's from San Diego and I can't believe it took two years for us to reconnect. She has a one year old son now so the four of us went out to lunch. I'm hoping we can get together again before we move!

Fletcher is changing so much! He's so much more alert. He looks around, follows noises, and is starting to smile and laugh a lot too. He's still a great napper and sleeper, but I'm also really enjoying his quiet, awake time. Tummy time is much more successful these days, too. I think because it gets so hot and sticky, he enjoys airing out his back. He usually falls asleep during tummy time, which makes me nervous, but I hate moving him because he usually wakes up and then the nap is over. So I just sit next to him and watch his breathing.  He's so much fun!

Fletcher 6 Weeks

Fletcher had a pretty action packed week! It was SO hot here (record highs). The temperature all week ranged from 95-105 degrees. Without AC, we were dying, so we spent most days out and about.

On the hottest day, Fletcher and I went to the movies. It was AWESOME. I parked the stroller in the handicap aisle and Fletcher slept for the entire 2.5 hour long movie. I was worried it would be too loud for him, but he was a champ. I tried to take a picture of him in the theater but it didn't come out so great:(

Later in the week, we went to Ocean Beach with Nichole. We had lunch at Pizza Port Brewery, and then cruised down the pier. It was a really hot day, but the breeze off of the ocean felt great. Fletcher slept most of this outing too :)

In even bigger news, he started sleeping through the night! I couldn't believe it! The first night it happened, I kept waking up, expecting him to wake up. But he never did, at least not until about 5am. Two other nights he woke up at 4am, 5am, and 6am, but I just gave him his paci and he went right back to sleep. That's also still sleeping from 7:30pm-4am. Last night he slept from 7:30pm-6am, and when I went into his room this morning, he was just hanging out in his crib with his eyes open.

I love the routine we've gotten into. It's definitely taken a toll on our night life (ha) but it works so well for Fletcher. Having him bathed, fed, and in bed by 7:30pm saves my sanity. He sleeps well, I get some me/Jesse time in the evening, and he's happy when he wakes up.

Fletcher also applied for his passport this week, and I got a new ombre hair-do!

Sunday was Jesse's only day off this week. We went to Mission Beach so he could play beach volleyball with some friends, and Fletcher and I could catch some rays/Zs. We looked like the opening credits of 'Yes Dear' trying to set up camp with all of our beach gear. I'm sure our friends think we're nuts! Fletcher was a trooper! I was a little worried about taking him to the beach since the sun is so strong, but he loved sitting in his stroller under the umbrella. He slept pretty much the entire time, and didn't scream when I put his feet in the water.  It was the perfect beach day. It was about 75 degrees; just hot enough to feel warm near the water, but not so hot that Fletcher was a sweat monster in his clothes and car seat. Another great San Diego weekend!

My First Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was pretty great! James had to leave to fly back home to Pennsylvania, so we took him to the airport that morning. After relaxing at home for a little while, Jesse treated Fletcher and I to brunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Great Maple. It's so yummy! I also got a honey mule (which comes out in a bear shaped honey jar), AND they were giving out free champagne to all the mommies. Score! Needless to say, Mama was feeling pretty good. Jesse also encouraged me to make an appointment at a salon to get something new and exciting done to my hair. I'm really looking forward to that upcoming appointment. It's time for a change! Later, we went on a family adventure to Costco so I could get my flat tire fixed (really exciting stuff), and that night, Jesse made clams and mussels for dinner. Delish!

The many faces of Fletcher...

Roger Ball! - FRS CQ Family Day

Jesse leaves for the carrier on May 20th to (hopefully!) carrier qualify by landing the Hornet on the deck. It's the same thing he did in Meridian, except this time it's in an F-18 instead of a T-45. He's been training all month and last Friday was family day. Friends and family are invited out to the squadron to watch the guys practice bouncing.  It's super cool because you get to stand right next to the runway (Jesse said he's never even been that close to a landing jet).  Jesse's dad flew in just to attend family day, which was pretty cool.

 Some Ospreys
Jesse!

We spent the following day at a Farmers Market in Poway, and then went to the local airport to hang out with some pilots at a BBQ. Their "neighborhood" was really cool. It was inside the airport, and their condos were above their personal hangars. Jesse and the old man were in Heaven.
