Fletcher's Christening

We decided to have Fletcher christened before we left for Japan, so we scheduled to have it performed in North Carolina. While visiting in New Bern, we asked the Harrison's to be Fletcher's godparents. We've been friends for years, and they've always felt like family. Jesse and I decided that if anything ever happened to us, we would want Fletcher to be raised in a home that was similar to our own.  Travis and Meredith were leaving the day of the christening for pre-deployment leave, so they were able to attend, which worked out really great.

Fletcher was able to wear a christening gown that was worn by my sisters, myself, Reeves, Raegan, and Landon. It's so sweet. I hope we can continue to pass it down through the generations.

When we got to the church, we all got an incredible surprise! My grandparents drove through the night, all the way from Pennsylvania, just to be there.  I hadn't even mentioned the Christening to them because I knew it would be a long trip for them, and we were planning to see them just a few days later anyway. They didn't even tell my mom that they were coming.  It was such a special surprise!  They attended the christening, went out for brunch with us, and then turned around and drove back home. I hope everyone has people in their lives who are that special.
